Hazardous Waste

Hazardous waste is a term used to describe any waste material that poses a potential risk to human health or the environment. These wastes may contain chemicals, toxins, or other harmful substances that can cause serious health problems if not handled properly. The Waste Management Act 1996 defines hazardous waste as any waste that appears on the hazardous waste list or is prescribed as hazardous waste and displays one or more of the properties of hazardous waste listed in the act. These properties may include toxicity, flammability, reactivity, or corrosivity. Proper management and disposal of hazardous waste are critical to ensure the protection of public health and the environment.
