The EPA have launched a register of water abstractions in accordance with the European Union (Water Policy) (Abstractions Registration) Regulations 2018 (S.I. No. 261 of 2018) to address the requirement of the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC) and has been signaled in the River Basin Management Plan 2018-2021.

Under the regulations abstractions greater than 25m3 need to be registered

• This abstraction has to be registered within 4 months of commencement of this regulation (Due 16 November 2018)
• You are required to sign up for assess to EPA’s EDEN portal. See guidance attached and follow guidelines to submit abstraction details in the water abstractions module
• A registration code will be issue to and should be retained as proof of registration
