New EPA Phone App: See it? Say it!

Many citizens and communities already get involved in taking care of the environment they live, work and play in.  The See It? Say It! phone application, developed by the EPA, helps to collect and direct your environmental concern to the correct local authority so that they can take action and address it.

What can you report when using the app?See it? Say it!

  • Waste; dumping/litter
  • Air; backyard burning/odour/toxic fumes
  • Noise; commercial premise or small factory
  • Water; fish kill/pollution

How does it work?

Step 1 Download: Visit the iPhone or Android app stores to download the app onto your smart phone or scan the QR code.

Step 2 Click Proceed: Note that your contact information may be passed on to local authorities and others so that your report can be addressed.  Some of the other agencies and organisations that may need to get involved include Inland Fisheries Ireland, the National Parks and Wildlife Service, PURE or the Northern Ireland Environment Agency.

Step 3 Take a Photo & Click Submit:Use the app to take a photo and provide other details that may be important.  Your contact information will be requested.

Your report is logged on External linkFixYourStreet.ie where the location and photo is publicly visible, but your contact details are not visible.  The local authority can see and respond to your report using this site.  You can also contact the local authority directly if you have any queries about the progress that is being made.

The See It? Say It! phone app complements the 24 hour National Environmental Complaints Line (NECL) 1850 365 121 where you can also report issues such as backyard burning, fly tipping, water pollution, odours and littering.  The phone line is available 24hrs a day, 7 days a week and all calls are answered by dedicated staff who will pass the reported information to the relevant local authorities.
